One Million

Well, I finally passed one million pageviews.

It took me about 12 years and I'm sure 90% of those pageviews are from Bots but what the hell, I'll take any W I can get. So for those of you popping in today, thank you all.

A Small Selection Of Women Wrestling Art

It's about I revisited a subject that consistently gets my top pageviews: Women's wrestling. Or more specifically, artwork about women's wrestling.  These all tend towards the more humorous side of things.

Since I have no idea where I found these or the original artists, don't expect anything in the way of analysis.  Hope you like them.

Satan's Mistress Cover

Orange suit is clearly more worried about her...father?.. than her opponent.

Isn't it embarrassing when you get all tangled up like that?

This is the poster for a Mexican film called "Mascara contra Bikini" which I am obviously  curious about.
Women wrestling Comic

Also curious about this. Is it a comic? Is there actual wrestling in the comic or just a misleading cover?

This looks old. REALLY old.

Ooh, check that sadistic look on black-suit's face.
Happy the woman who gets paid for her hobbies.

Now this artist I can tell you; Sergio Aragones has a style of his own that you can spot from a mile away.

And lastly, a panel from the Kimen-Gumi Manga that fits better here than the Manga wrestling collection I might do later.

That's all folks.

Changing my name.

I've had this blog for about 11 years and for that whole time I've been posting as "Big D". It was the profile name I used for the old Bloodstock forum, among others, so I just carried it over.

After all this time it finally occurred to me that maybe I should have chosen a better name.

Which is why, from here on out, I'm going to be posting under my real name.

Hello there. I'm Dale.  Pleased to meet you all and I hope we can be friends.

A Fistful Of Books September 2023

In 1976 John Miles had a hit with "Music" where he told the world "Music was my first love and it will be my last"

I can respect that. However in my case the first great love of my life, the one which has been with me for many years and will almost certainly be right there in my final days is books.

Reading is one of the few skills I picked up easily and I went for it hard.  Chances are, I would default to sticking my nose into a book and dragging me away from it was a tough job.

As an aside, none of this meant I was ever any good at studying. My brain does not work that way.

The point I think I was trying to make is that I have always loved books and always wanted to get more books every chance I get.  When I visualise my dream home, the first room is always a gigantic library. The rest of the house is an afterthought, although in more misanthropic moments, the entrance to the house would have a gigantic neon sign inviting visitors to fuck off.  Possibly some automatic gun-turrets too.

So anyway, I bought myself some books from the second-hand place in Fratton Bridge Centre. Wanna see what I bought?

So I have an Army now.

I suffer from a couple of awkward conditions not recognised by regular medicine.

The first being a tendency towards impulse purchases  -Call it "Ooh! Shiny! Syndrome" and this is how my living room now holds an awful lot of books, a figurine of Britt Baker DMD, a wooden broadsword and a certain cuddly chicken.  (See HERE

This compounded by something I call "Collectoritis" where the symptoms manifest like this:

If I get more than one of something, I start wanting to have three,  then ten  and next thing I know, yet another collection has started.

And that's how I have a shelf full of Spitfires,  not to mention where The Metal Project got started.

The flashpoint in this case was picking up a packet of assorted plastic toy soldiers in a charity shop.

Why?

"Ooh! Shiny!"

Then I happened to find another bag of toy soldiers in the next charity shop and next thing I knew...

I think now is the right time to let a picture explain it all.

Not only all different colours but different sizes too.

Oh lord, what have I started?
