Heavy Metal Cover Girls...And Wolves

Hello and welcome to the first Heavy Metal Cover Girls post of 2016. I have a folder filled to bursting with album covers that are cool, sexy, memorable or just plain odd, so I promise you that it won't be the last.

Dogs are mans best friend but for today's post, we're looking at women who decided to make friends with the Children of the Night.  What sweet music they make...

 Hammerlord - S/T (USA 2008)

woman with wolves
Skipping for the moment the minor detail of this clearly being a Hammerlady,  you have to wonder why she even needs the hammer. She has her own wolfpack, a raven for target-spotting and quite possibly the power to command lightning. Melee combat is going to be a last-resort sort of thing.

 Musically Hammerlord are unrepentant Thrash.

Someday I Could Kill - Where the Wolves Rest (USA 2013)metal album cover woman , heavy metal cover girls

I saw this and promptly thought "She looks familiar"

Having said that,  there's so many bands reusing Luis Royo artwork for their covers, I bet even he doesn't know what's going on.

  The band are pretty crunchy.

The next band are more Gothic than Metal but there's enough heavy guitar in the music that I think I can get away with it.

Mantus - Wolfe (Germany 2012)

woman and wolf album cover.
How often do I get to post a cover that's sort of cute?
That's assuming they're just asleep rather than... you know...
I'm also assuming nobody gets eaten when they both wake up.

German is a great language for Gothic music.

The next three all continue the theme of "Wolf as cuddly woodland friend"

White Wolf -Endangered Species (Canada 1986)

rock album cover nude woman

Running bare and fare with the wolves is fun up until you run into brambles. Or rain.
That's why she's currently looking for somewhere that sells an affordable cagoule.

The band are typically Canadian Melodic Rock

Last Days Of  Eden - Ride The World (Spain 2015)

woman in the snow with wolves
Our woodls dwelling free spirit goes for a walk with her friends,  blissfully unaware that the caribou have been in short supply lately and The Pack are beginning to wonder why they  take orders from a human.
A human who might be quite tasty...

A band with a definite touch of the Nightwish, methinks. It grows on you.

Catamenia - Morning Crimson (Finland 1999)

"Look, I know you're my Wolf-Brothers and all but my hair is a mess, I'm freezing my tits off, I've got a splitting
headache and this cub just pissed on my lap . Can yez knock it off with the frigging howling for a bit?"

Melodic Black Metal - which always seems like a contradiction inn terms.

After this we're less about "Forest Buddies" and more about "Furry Henchmen"

Where does a woman with her own wolf sleep at night?
Wherever she damn well likes.

Rose Avalon - Northern Strengths (Spain 2014)

witch and wolf album cover
People kept trying to pet her cute doggy and she kept having to hide the bodies.
But once she started wearing the cloak, people just left her the hell alone.
Amazing what an image change can do, hey?

Another Spanish Symphonic Metal band for your attention.

Diemonds - The Bad Pack (Canada 2012)

motorcycle+woman+wolf+bat+rock
On a summer evening Sue-Ellen liked to go for a moonlight ride with her pet wolf and 386 pet bats.
She's always hoping to meet a nice guy who loves bikes, wolves and bats but so far she's struck out.
(Except for that bloke who keeps wanting her to bite him. Which is just weird.)

I like everything I've heard from these guys so far. Sunset Strip style sleaze rock with a ballsy frontwoman.

The music video is a homage to "The Warriors"  - which was itself inspired by Xenophon's Anabasis

What? I read a lot.

And finally, a cover I've been dying to use for a while.

Johnny Touch - Inner City Wolves (Australia 2014)

heavy metal cover girls+ wolf +guns +mad max

if you don't think this is awesome and Metal as Fuck  then I don't want to know you.

Johnny Touch are old-school Heavy Metal but looking at that album cover, are you surprised?

That's all folks.
