Womens' Wrestling Comics - Whoa Nellie

WHOA NELLIE - USA 1996 - 3 issues and a TPB.

The long running indie comic "Love and Rockets" by the Hernandez Brothers occasionally featured women wrestlers Rena Titanon and Tia Vicki so this series isn't too much of a departure.
More pics and info after the jump break

The story revolves around young wrestlers Gina and Xochitl (Rena's niece) who want to be the best tag team in the world. Once they're no long being made to wrestle each other, obviously.
What with opponents in the ring and conniving promoters,  our two plucky grapplers find their friendship becoming strained
Every issue features at least one match, normally without any dialogue or narration which, combined with the stark black and white artwork, gives it an odd sort of flavour.
Xochitl headlocks Gina. Neither of them seems to take it personally at this point.
Rena Titanon doesn't let blood ties get in the way of giving poor Xochitl a right stomping.
Gina and Xochitl find out why their opponents are called The Birmingham Lady Bashers.
Xochtitl takes on rising star Katy Hawk and has the other woman in trouble.
Well that didn't last long, did it?

Fun fact. The Battle Royale was originally a gimmick match in Boxing.
Messing up your opponents hair. The most terrifying move in wrestling.

How easy is this to get hold of:  The TPB (which collects all 3 issues and adds an extra chapter) is about £15 on Amazon and you can also find  this series on Ebay without too much in the way of effort.
