Women Wrestlers Smile For the Camera

The post I originally had in mind is currently stuck in the mire known as "Writer's Block" so I had to hurriedly come up with a backup plan. Then I remembered that I did a bit of scanning a little while back...

Since I haven't done a wrestling post in a while - and they always seem to go down well - here's a few scans showcasing the height of women's wrestling fashion (circa 1989.)

Candi Devine..um...Divine..nobody seems quite sure how to spell it...flashes her pearly whites backstage.

Allison Royal is clearly proud to be American.

Sadly the poor thing seems to have spent most of her career getting her head kicked in by the likes of Denise Storm and Susan Sexton.

The next three are all of "Magnificent Mimi" Lesseos, wrestler, actor and stuntwoman.
Also did a Playboy shoot long before it became compulsory for WWE "Divas"
A freshfaced Mimi just after debuting with the AWA.

Mimi gets her "Serious" face on before a match.

After the AWA folded Mimi went on to be one of the short lived LPWA's top stars.

She also found time to do a martial-arts movie.
Approach with caution unless you're a big fan of 80s schlock.

She's looking a lot more cheerful here.

I seem to remember Mimi getting quite a few pinups back in the day. Then  again, so did Abdullah The Butcher and I know who I'd rather have on my wall.

A quick shufti at her Wikipedia reveals that in later years Mimi Lesseos did quite a few films as well as being resident stuntwoman on "Malcolm In The Middle"

No, I haven't got the Playboy shoot so don't ask.

And finally..
AWA Women's champion
Debrah "Madusa" Micelli during her days as AWA champ.

Later on she went on to the WWF as "Alundra Blayze" for some classic matches against Bull Nakano, including a title match at the Tokyo dome in front of 35000 fans.
Some genius thought it would be a great idea to follow that up with a programme against fat blob Bertha Faye, at which point Debrah famously showed up on WCW Nitro to dump her WWF belt in a trashcan.

WCW managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory by having America's top woman wrestler win the (Men's) Cruiserweight title then  lose it to non-wrestler Ed Ferrara, achieving nothing beyond kicking the Cruiserweight Division squarely in the  naughty bits.  Well done , you nitwits.

Debrah Micelli  races Monster Trucks now, apparently. My respect is officially earned.

That's all folks.
