"Hmm." I thought "I don't have too many of those in my album art folder. But I like the idea so let's keep an eye out for some stuff that fits."
And here we are.
Today's selection is devoted to the fusion of woman and machine. "Metal Cover Girls" indeed.
Let's start with one of my favourites.
Crimson Glory - Transcendence (USA 1988)
Fans of 80s Sf should find the above pic strangely familiar.
Personally I think the Crimson Glory art is much better. It really is kind of elegant. Great band too.
Neuronspoiler - Emergence (UK 2013)
By 2018, Miley Cyrus was beginning to wonder if her image had gotten a little too extreme.
The band themselves are classic Heavy Metal. Here's what they sound like.
Promising.
Poison Sun - Virtual Sin (Germany 2010)
I want a pair of those wings.
Maybe not quite so sharp though.
As you can see from the picture, careful handing is required to avoid injury and lawsuits.
Shok Paris - Steel And Starlight (USA 1987)
Just a robot girl jamming with her Eiffel Tower shaped guitar.
Ain't no big deal.
Assignment - Inside Of The Machine (Germany 2013)
I think that you'll find she's technically on the outside of the machine but whatever.
Think of it as the spiritual successor to that Crimson Glory cover.
And finally.
Soilent Green - Inevitable Collapse In The Presence of Conviction (USA 2008)
I rather like this one.
Imagine one of those classic pin up girls given a 21st century SF makeover and you get this.
She looks like she's having fun too.
Thanks again to Polybore for the suggestion and if you have anything you want to see, let me know.
That's all folks.
Like the Shock Paris cover. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice, simple idea done well, isn't it?

Gave me a good laugh. I like the first one the best. The "cyborg girls attached to rocket ship-looking things" theme is nice.
Glad you liked them old chap. I thought these deserved a bit of appreciation.
DeleteI'm not sure why, but the first two remind me of women trapped inside giant vibrators. These album covers would make great wall art.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm getting that mental image out of my head anytime soon.
DeleteBut, yep, I'd definitely put the Crimson Glory one up on my wall.
