The Metal Project: Welcome To 2021
Hello and welcome to the first Metal Project post of 2021. Today I will be digging into my vault and pulling out some stuff I've been meaning to post for a while. As always, I hope you find something to like.
It says a lot that I'm not always sure whether a band are taking the piss or not. However this Brazilian bunch are known for their satirical work. That doesn't mean the song is bad though. Far from it.

The Metal Project Is Now On Youtube
Morning All.
I think we can all agree that COVID19 sucks massive quantities of dead penguin dick.
Seriously. Fuck COVID19
But on a marginally more positive note...

The Metal Project: Heavy Metal Rules
50 years ago a bunch of Brummies released an album that changed Rock music forever. Black Sabbath took the heavy blues-rock formula of Cream and Hendrix, turned up the amps, fed it through a filter of Horror movies and created something darker and heavier than anything heard before.
Later on other bands would refine the formula and Heavy Metal would gleefully lift bits from every other music form you could think of: Punk, Prog, Pop, folk music, hardcore, hip-hop and the kitchen sink but it all started with the sound of rain and a menacing three note riff.
These days Heavy Metal bands and metal fans can be found pretty much anywhere that has working electricity and that includes countries where unsmiling men will throw you into a windowless cellar for wearing a black t-shirt.
Metal has survived Punk, Disco, Grunge, Rap, moral crusaders, the blatant disdain of the music press and Axl Rose being a knob. If anything it keeps spreading further.
I am confident that in 30 years time there will still be somebody putting "Black Sabbath" in their nanite, cortical sensory implants and losing their freaking mind.
Anyway, enough waffling. let's have some metal ..

The Metal Project: Metal Monday
Evening all. Blimey, I haven't done one of these for a while but since Easter is a time for rebirth why not resurrect this project?
Before I start how about a quick recap on what this is all about. Not long after I started this blog I began a quest to see how many heavy metal songs I could find on Youtube that had Metal in the title.
Well the last time I checked I'd found 1600 or so (see tab at the top for the songlist) and I'm still nowhere near caught up.

The Metal Project: Bad Boys Of Metal
Evening All.
For tonight's post I was feeling nostalgic so decided to dig into the vaults and pull out some songs from a decade that was crucial to the development of Heavy Metal in all it's forms. The 1970s may have seen the birth of Metal and the post-grunge era saw Metal go off into all sorts of bizarre directions but it's the 1980s that really saw Metal move away from it's early Heavy Rock roots. Punk and MTV both had a big impact on this kind of music it it's hard to see where we would be without both.
Never mind all that. Let's get some songs on and the old-school headbanging started, shall we?

Digressing for a minute, I am continually amazed that after doing this for several years I am still turning up all sorts of intresting stuff from way, way back in the 1980s. It boggles the mind as to how many bands there were slogging away, touring the clubs and putting out material on self-released cassette and vinyl. It's equally impressive how many people there are dedicated to preserving all this obscure treasure and putting it online.
